Megan + Michael

Weddings

An eclectic and colorful wedding at The Maitland Art Center

Authentic Dream Wedding

Megan & Michael’s eclectic and colorful wedding was on April 2022.

They are a beautiful, Florida born and raised couple. Megan is a high school choir teacher (doing the Lord’s work!) and Michael is a historian, working at the Smithsonian Natural History Museum in DC.

Some people are lucky enough to meet “the one” early on in their lives, even if it means they don’t officially date for several years after that! This was exactly the case for Meg & Michael.

These Lovebirds’ Story

They met at College, through mutual pals and remained friends throughout undergrad – never really being interested in each other. Megan always thought “I should find a guy as kind, thoughtful, and gentleman-like as Michael” but they were dating other people at the time. Therefore, she never gave it a second thought until they hung out after her first semester of teaching and his first semester in grad school in DC.

One day they were catching up and there was a small moment of attraction. A month later Michael sent Megan a letter saying he felt like he has always loved her! They went back and forth via snail mail for 3ish months. Eventually, things sort of miraculously fell into place. She got a summer internship in DC so they had a chance to build their relationship in person. They have been together ever since!

They now live in Maryland so when it came time to celebrate their union, they of course, came back home to do so surrounded by their closest friends and family!

The Invitation Suite

I’m obsessed with these detailed wedding invitations by Minted. As you will see, hunter green, terracotta, butterscotch together with earth tones were the protagonists of this colorful wedding.

Megan’s bouquet of seasonal flowers colors was the perfect complement to her beautiful wedding day look.

Gettin’ Ready

Megan and her bridesmaids were looking wedding day ready thanks to the hair and makeup talent of Before The Aisle Wedding who paired her original gown with beautiful sleeves and a floral hairpiece.

Before the ceremony, Meg & Michael set aside time to meet up for a magical first look and intimate portraits at Megan’s grandmothers home.

The wedding took placed at the unique Maitland Art Center and Fern and Curl Designs absolutely knocked it out of the park with all their Floral creations.

The florals from the ceremony backdrop, the aisle arrangements as well as the centerpieces complimented Megan’s bouquet perfectly and felt very cohesive with this eclectic and colorful wedding.

Let’s do this!

During the ceremony, their friend Jade sang for the future spouses. It was such an emotional experience and you can watch it in this Instagram Post!

I utterly love this couple’s bridal party! It was full of super diverse, special, sweet and fun people.

A Champagne wall and a Jenga guest book were the attraction for the cocktail hour.

Such a great addition to this stunning wedding was a big seating chart made by AM + Co.

I am 100% in love with this incredible cake and dessert table display by Bakers Cottage Cakes.

A simple, gorgeous and delicate table lay-out in the most perfect tent.

On this wedding we worked with the marvelous Wedding Planner and Designer, miss Melanie Paige! She simply IS Magic!

This table setting continues the floral style mixing with gold cutlery and dusty pink table linens.

Look at this dope styled lounge! The textures, colors and comfort are all that’s right!

Someone else love the golden hour? It’s the best moment to obtain candid, sentimental and genuine portraits.

I was SO stoked to see these two let loose and enjoy every minute of their day.

In case you are wanting to get married at The Maitland Art Center, I happen to think this wedding is the perfect inspiration.

Did you know that it is a new trend to do one last private dance? It will allow you to enjoy a moment together, alone while your family and friends wait outside for you, reminiscing about what your wedding was like!

To wrap it up, the newlyweds chose ribbon wands for their ceremony recessional and bubbles for their exit.

Finally, what’s a chic wedding without a fun getaway car like this Cadillac Devile?

If you are interested in get more ideas about this dreamy venue, you can browse my blog for another featured wedding: Alyssa & Charles or for instance, you can also check out this Styled Shoot.

These two were so much fun and such spontaneous people with empathic souls. Congratulations to the both of you!
