Enchanting Muted Rainbow Styled Shoot in Howey in the Hills, Florida
You Are a Rainbow!
Styled Shoots, specially this Muted Rainbow Styled Shoot, are a great way to inspire creativity so we decided to let the magic flow with an amazing vendor crew that had to strategically pick choices that didn’t overpower each other in order for our rainbow colors to seamlessly flow.
This design was unique. It was quite different from what we typically do in our day to day roles as wedding professionals. Planning for this shoot took about 4 months!
The chosen venue for this Enchanting Fairytale Styled Shoot was the magnificent historic Howey Mansion in Howey in the Hills, Florida. It was the best backdrop for our whimsical design.
The Vibe
The Theme was You Are a Rainbow where we featured muted rainbow hues with an Ombre effect + color blocking throughout our design from the rainbow arch, to the cascading florals that ran down our dinner tables.
Not only did we want to bring color to the “neutral” world we see so much of these days, but we wanted to show that your wedding doesn’t have to be just one color, it can be many. And it can be fabulous and scream luxury all at the same time without being the typical black tie affair that you commonly think of when you imagine a luxury wedding.
Muted Rainbow Styled Shoot timeline, planning and design was handle by the incredibly talented Alayna Mines, Lead Designer and Owner of Roots To Stems Wedding Planning & Design.
As Howey In The Hills is also famous for its gorgeous sunsets and rainbows, she focused in order to play off of the beautiful muted “rainbow” tones of the mansion walls and colorful stone features you see throughout the grounds.
Get transported to this beautiful scenery and get inspired through the following photos!
Flat Lay
This stunning invitation suite was created by Rosebud Calligraphy. In particular, she concentrated on the “middle of the rainbow” hues like peach, yellows, dusty blues and sage greens, trying not to focus solely on one color.
Bouquet & Bouttonnière
The amazing talented Jonathan Sosa, from In Bloom Florist had a huge challenge because the floral concept needed to pair perfectly with the overall design concept.
The bridal bouquet reflected perfectly our “muted rainbow” with the use of mixed greenery, orchids and roses perfecting the bridal gown with delicate lace detailing.
The photos just speak for themselves.
Floating Ombre Rainbow Cake from a Historic Spiral Staircase
The concept behind the “floating” aspect of this project was to play off of the fact that rainbows seem to “float” in the sky.
Michelle from My Bakers Cottage Cakes had the perfect solution to make our cake appear as if it was floating. An acrylic base with the right dimensions for the base of the cake was used to hold the structure while fisherman-grade was used to attach onto the acrylic piece, strong enough to hold our cake.
Michelle has created many unique and non traditional cakes, and is always up for a challenge! The floating rainbow cake was created ONSITE by her and Alayna Mines from Roots To Stems.
Finally, the planning worked and the cake looked magnificent just like how we envisioned it.
Ceremony
Jonathan took this inspiration and ran with it to create a beautiful muted rainbow floral arch.
He wanted the arch to not only fit within the current existing arches of the Howey Mansion building, but also to bring the theme to life as our major focal point of the design – incorporating all of the colors along with a few fun textures, too.
Instead of using a traditional arch for the ceremony, our florist used over 40 types of blooms/floral to create an 8 foot tall massive rainbow arch which joins the array of colorful taper candles.
Notice the soft tulle that effortlessly complements the arch and brings a fun texture to the design. In addition, the aisle lined with floral arrangements completed our ceremony area too.
Reception
The unique and interesting cascading floral arrangement in muted rainbow hues combined with candles, tableware and smokey goblets creating a very romantic atmosphere in a wonderful setting like The Courtyard Stage in front of Pillars.
It needed to incorporate all of the colors (meaning, a TON of amazing different types of blooms), as well as pair well with luxury textured elements like linens, candelabras and specialty glassware from BBJ La Tavola and Echo Event Rentals.
Furthermore, adding the menu in beautiful calligraphy was an excellent addition and a game changer for this charming table scene.
We’re completely enamored by the muted hues colors, unique blooms and all the inspiring details of this styled shoot.
Lounge
This outdoor setting in front of the infamous 3-tailed Siren Fountain truly brought this shoot to another level.
The chosen furniture from RW Events combined with flower arrangements in peach, yellow, sage green and blue hues.
Romantic Shots
The bride looks like she is walking into a dream wearing three different gowns and right on trend from The Bridal Finery that took our breath away.
Firstly, a flirty yet elegant off the shoulder gown with a long tail. Secondly an easy, romantic and comfortable gown with thin straps and finally a charming dress with a deep neckline and a huge quantity of tulle. Which one would you walk down the aisle? 1, 2 or 3? The most important is that you feel comfortable in your big day!
Her hair and makeup were kept light and natural suiting our bride’s freshness and in keeping with the backdrop.
As a result, the chic and elegant style of the model matched perfectly with the whole styled shoot.
For our groom we opted for a a smart yet casual look. A velvet suit of dark blue tone, combined with a crisp white shirt, black bow tie and grey shoes. Keith wore a boutonniere with the same mix were made for the bouquet and for the floral decoration of the table setting.
Indoor Portraits
Fun Fact: The day of the shoot it started to rain, which was SUCH a bummer in the moment. We had to rush a few scenes so that inventory didn’t get damaged. BUT all that to say, that rain actually brought a REAL rainbow!
Summing up we were able to end our shoot capturing an epic rainbow on the rooftop of the mansion! We couldn’t have asked for a better ending!
Alayna, as the pioneer of this Muted Rainbow styled shoot, shared with us “It’s so fun to work with people that are “yes and” people… what I mean by that is when you bring a crazy idea to the table and instead of saying no, they say “yes, AND what if we ALSO did this” – every vendor selected was a personal and professional friend that I knew would knock it out of the park”.
So the advice for future couples is: Don’t be afraid to add COLOR to your big day. Heck, bring the FULL RAINBOW of colors to your color palette! Use 40 different types of blooms, hang a cake from the staircase. Be BOLD and have fun with your wedding day design. And above all, make it YOU.
